Real Encouragement for Foster and Adoptive Parents

Pre-Conference & Additional Workshops

FASD & the Big 3: Raging, Lying & Stealing | Thursday, Feb. 20 | 9a-3p

In adoption and foster care, many children face the effects of prenatal exposure to alcohol, drugs, and stress, significantly impacting brain development. Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), which are twice as common as autism, are frequently undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Children and adults with FASD have invisible brain injuries, and typical strategies for parenting, teaching, and therapy often fail. Common behaviors like lying, stealing, and raging stem from neuro-behavioral issues related to FASD and trauma. This session will explore these behaviors and offer relational-based strategies for managing them.

CEU credits are available.
